Common Questions
How strong is the solid 18oz vinyl?
18oz vinyl is a very strong and long-lasting material. In fact, it is the same material used on semi-trailers to cover their cargo! The abuse the material can endure on the highway is far greater than anything it would face in your backyard, so we guarantee it is one of the strongest covers you can purchase.
Are the covers easy to clean?
Yes. Contrary to other fabric covers that resemble canvas, vinyl is a material that is extremely slick and, therefore, simple to clean. Canvas will capture and hold mold and stains that are difficult to remove, as opposed to the sleek ALCO vinyl utility trailer covers.
How far down the side should I extend the box trailer cover?
- Generally speaking, you want to keep the tarp from extending past any fenders or other obstructions that protrude from the side of the trailer. You might occasionally wish us to make slits or cuts to make room for these obstructions.
- The tarp should not reach more than an inch or two above any fastening points, such as hooks or eyelets, that are already on the sides of your trailer. If it does, you won't be able to use these anchors to tighten down the trailer tarp. For optimal tarp tensioning, your fasteners should be positioned at least 4 inches below the tarp's bottom to offer some leverage.
- Think about the goods you plan to transport in the trailer. If it is frequently taller than the trailer's bed, you may want to raise the sides a little to create room for it.
Can I get custom grommet locations?
Yes. In the special notes, specify where you want the grommets or upload a drawing using the upload function on this form.
Why would I want to use flaps?
Certain utility trailers have tailgates that protrude beyond the sides or other unique obstructions that are difficult to cover with a tarp that isn't designed to suit ordinary trailers. One way to cover such a trailer is to have us cut tarp flaps to enable them to go around the tailgate or other impediment.
